Bid Qualifications
Hazard Construction welcomes all subcontractors and vendors who are interested in joining us to bid on potential contracts.
New subcontractors and vendors who would like to partner with Hazard should send an email to our Estimating Department at estimating@hazardconstruction.com. As we will require background information on your company, please include your company name, address, phone number, email address, trade and the contract you would like to bid. Hazard will evaluate your company business history, quality of products and services and financial capacity for acceptance to our list of qualified subcontractors and vendors. Subcontractors will also need to provide proof of minimum insurance coverage and other documentation as requested.
If you are already a preapproved subcontractor or vendor with Hazard and would like an invitation to submit a contract bid, please send an email to our Estimating Department at estimating@hazardconstruction.com stating the contract you are interesting in bidding.
Qualified subcontractors and vendors bidding on a contract are expected to have thoroughly read and reviewed the requirements on the request for bid proposal and project plans. Subcontractors are encouraged to contact us should you need assistance in obtaining bonding, lines of credit, required insurance coverage, equipment, supplies and/or materials for your scope of work. Any questions and concerns should be immediately communicated to our Estimating team. All bids should be accurate and complete for the best opportunity in winning a successful bid.
Access to Bid Plans
Access to bid plans for potential contracts may differ dependent on the nature and owner of the project.
Public Projects
For any projects that are funded by public agencies, qualified subcontractors and vendors on our mailing list will be sent an Invitation to Bid email. This Invitation to Bid email will contain instructions for accessing the public project plans and other pertinent information.
Private Projects
For private projects, Hazard will notify and email selected subcontractors and vendors whose services and products are required on the potential contract. Hazard will grant and provide login credentials on our FTP secured server at https://ftp.hazardconstruction.com where you will have access to the project plans and other pertinent information.
Important Considerations
As Hazard is an Equal Opportunity Employer, we seek and encourage bids from certified SLBE, ELBE, DBE, UDBE, DVBE, SBE, MBE, WBE and OBE businesses. If your scope of work requires materials, please list the suppliers used on your bid quote.
For all public projects, please note that the requirements of SB 854 became effective on March 1, 2015. Under SB 854, all contractors and subcontractors who bid or work on a public works project must register with the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) and pay an annual fee. No subcontractor may be listed on a public works project without a valid DIR registration number and expiration date. You may verify your DIR registration at https://efiling.dir.ca.gov/PWCR/Search.action.
Public projects also require payment and performance bonds for 100% of the subcontract amount. Hazard will compensate subcontractors up to 3% for the required bonds.
If you have any questions, please contact our Estimating Department at (858) 587-3600 or email at estimating@hazardconstruction.com.
